LINDA VISTA COMMUNITY PLANNING COMMITTEE
Minutes of January 26, 2004

Call to order: Committee Chair, Ed Cramer, called the meeting to order at 7:05 p.m. at the Linda Vista Public Library. Presentation of colors and Pledge of Allegiance were performed by the Kearny High School Junior ROTC.

Roll Call by Liliani Stiffler, Secretary. Members excused: Carini, Edwards, Thao, and Tomcek.

Police Department: Manny, the new Lieutenant, is now in charge of patrolling. He invited everytone to attend the San Diego Police Foundation on February 27th. He passed out fliers for the Police Force – a two hour program. He will also assist Joyce in the Riverbed area issue. The Chief of Police will be at the March meeting.

Government Aides Report:

Seth Litchney from the Mayor’s office announced the Mayor’ State of the City Address.

Kevin Smith with Donna Frye talked about the Retirement System, Pension Reform Committee, Budget crisis in the Police Depart. Ballpark transportation, and the Bayside monthly meeting with Donna. Frye Lights was distributed and Kevin answered questions regarding the above issues.

Lesley Henegar and Marco commented on the Pilot Village in council, up-dating of financing plan from guideline year 1993-1994, and the review and refinement of maps.

Public Comment

Janet Kaye, Chair of the Pilot Villages project, announced that Morena Vista is not included in the final City of Villages program but remains in the North Bay Redevelopment Project area program.

Motion was made to pay Rob Spahitz $23 for his expense on the Collaborative.

Main Presentation:

Ron Albrecht of the San Diego Housing Commission presented and led a discussion on the Consolidated Plan. There was a long discussion regarding the short notice of the survey form to be filled out by Linda Vista residents by February 2, 2004. Rick Bussell suggested that Donna Frye let the Board know how much money was available for housing in Linda Vista. Maureen Ostrye of the Redevelopment Agency answered questions regarding the Skateworld property.

Committee Reports:

Doug Beckham requested that $35 be approved to apply to the application fee for a Channel 10 TV Community Service Award for Gary Stang. Motion approved. Wayne Bamford suggested that Morely Strip be renamed, Morley Park. He also reported that the Humane Society and new Animal Control facilities are doing well.

Meeting ended at 9:19 p.m.
