Linda Vista Planning Committee Meeting
March 26, 2007
Meeting called to order by Vice Chair Don Ballantyne at 6:05 pm at the Linda Vista Public Library. Thirty people were in attendance.
The following members were absent: Ed Cramer, Rosemary Ortega, Gary Stang, Xiongh Thao, and Ron Tomcek.
Donna Frye’s representative presented information on the resurfacing of Linda Vista Road and asked that all report any utility companies that do not repair their cuts when doing work on the road surface.
Lori Saldana’s representative reported on efforts to obtain housing funds for seniors as a result of the bond initiative that was passed at last election.
Susan Davis representative spoke
The city planner announced that the next C.O.W. will be held on April 28. All members of the committee will receive an invitation.
He distributed the proposed amendment to change the boundary of the Linda Vista Community plan and the Clairmont plan due to the building of the Mesa College parking structure. Issue will be discussed in more detail once members have time to review the proposed amendment.
Estella Klink the housing counselor from Bayside reported on her activities.
Rick Bussel reported on the current plan to update the Fiesta Island Park. Asked all to look at plans at fiestaislandgdp.com
Public forum with Mayor Sanders will be at Kearny High on April 19 as program for the Civic Association. Note the change in place.
Election of representatives from Census Tracts: The following people were presented.
CT 86 - Rob Spahitz
CT 87.01 - Dixie Wilson
CT 88 - Doug Beckham, Sandy Duncan, Gary Stang
CT 89:01 - Donna Erickson, Kathleen Morgen
CT 91.05 - Rick Bussel, Jo-Ann Carini, Roy Hughes
Doug Beckham made a motion to accept the slate of candidates as presented. Kathleen Morgen seconded the motion. All were approved.
Next month there will be election for all remaining vacancies. Several people are candidates for the open positions.
Resignations of members: Rosemary Ortega and Xiongh Thao have resigned from the committee for family reasons
Ron Tomcek submitted his resignation, but Jo Ann Carini made a motion to provide Ron Tomcek with a Leave of Absence from the Committee through September of 07. Doug Beckham seconded the motion. Motion passed 13 to 1. So he will be on leave of absence.
Items on the agenda:
San Diego Humane Society: Kim Shannon presented the Humane Society’s possible changes at the Sherman Street facility.
Public Storage on Pacific Highway, project # 109986 resubmittal, Drew Corley made motion to approve the project as presented. Rick Bussel seconded the motion. It passed with no objections.
Cingular Cuyamaca Hall, Project 114902, resubmittal. Motion to approve the project was made by Doug Beckham, seconded by Wayne Bamford. All approved.
Verizon Padre Gold, Project # 97765. Wayne Bamford made a motion to send a letter to the applicant asking Verizon to comply with the new regulations and resubmit paper work to the committee and make a presentation to the committee. Doug Beckham seconded the motion. All voted in favor of the motion.
Various committees made their reports on their activities.
Motion to approve the minutes was made by Roy Hughes, seconded by Jo Ann Carini. All voted in favor.
