Minutes September 24, 2007
The LVPG meeting opened at 6:10PM with the Kearny High School Color Guard. There were 26 in attendance including three students from Kearny. Board members absent were Drew Corley, Grover Diemert, and Roy Hughes.
Agency Reports:
+
Susan Davis’ office gave an update on congressional activities. Margarita Castro
announced that the planning group will send a letter of thanks to Congresswoman
Davis for her help in getting permission for placing a Do Not Feed The Pigeons sign
by the Post Office.
+ Peri from Donna Frye’s office reported that Donna Day is October 26th. They are working
on making it safer for children to go to and from school and need everyone’s
help in getting Stop signs and
signals installed more quickly. She suggested letters and e-mails be directed to the Mayor’s office. Traffic Chair, Doug Beckham, will
submit a letter for Board approval.
+ City Planner
Brian Schoenfisch announced that the Planning Commission will review
the Rezone/Park Dedication/Amendments to Linda Vista and Clairemont Mesa Community
Plans on November 15th.

Tom Cleary shared USD activities and Estella Klink from Bayside addressed the
Parkside Apartment renovations, low cost water conversions, and the Bayside Annual Gala on November 17th.
Public Comments:
+ Rob Spahitz requested that Donna Erickson be reimbursed for Bylaws expenses as
soon as the new names are put on the checking account.
+ Doug Beckham terms out as LV Civic Association president on October 16th and everyone is invited
to a 6:00pm potluck at Bayside.

Family Carnival at LV Rec Center November 2-4.
+ Local residents are afraid to report graffiti problem in the 5600 block ;f Lorreta
Street to the police.
Action Items:
The Ad Hoc Bylaws Committee presented highlights from each Article. The following
motions were made to amend the committee’s recommendations:
+ Motion [Wilson/Erickson]to reinsert in Article IV, Section1 “fourth absence in
the 12 month period of April through March each year.” Passed 9-5
+ Motion [Erickson/Buckmaster] to change “shall” to “should” in Article IV, Section
1. Passed 9-6
+ Motion [Duncan/Spahitz] to eliminate the number “6” referencing Council District
6 in Article VIII, Section 1a, Item 6. Passed 9-6
+ Motion [Spahitz/Buckmaster] to read in Article VIII, Section 1a, Item 7 “City
Channel” and “community newsletters”. Passed 9-6
+ Motion [Erickson/Stang] to approve the Bylaws as amended passed unanimously.
