Minutes of the Linda Vista Planning Committee

Members absent: Martin Ammerman, Tom Cleary, Grover Diemert, Roy Hughes, Kathleen Morgen, Ron Tomcek
29 people were in attendance.
Govt Reports from Denice Garcia (Mayor Jerry Sander's office), Pari Sanati (District 5 Donna Frye's office), Melanie Cohn (State Assembly Lori Soldaņa's office), Brian Schoenfisch (City Planner's office.)
Pari reported on recycling coming to all City households. Melanie discussed a homeowner's workshop on April 24. Brian reported on a COW (Community Orientation Workshop) coming up in May (date to be determined), that the City Plan was adopted, and that ballots for planning committee elections may have to be signed per the Brown Act.

April 22 - Earth Day (and Mar 29 Earth Hour 8-9pm)
Sheila Hardin, CCDC, reported that there will be
7 new parks designated for downtown, newest at Cortez; new pedestrian bridge from downtown across to Balboa Park in design.
April 26 - Linda Vista Multicultural Fair and Parade, organized by Bayside Center, with a film festival, food court.
April 17 - LV Town Council
Steve Francis, candidate for Mayor, introduced himself.
Motion (Wilson/Beckham):: Have at-large elections immediately following Census Tract elections. Passes unanimously.
Motion (Beckham/Duncan): Approve Feb minutes as corrected. Passed, 9-0-2 (2 abstentions from members not present at the Feb meeting.)
Elections: Due to recent split of census tract 91.05 into 91.06 and 91.07, we are able to add a member.

Motion (Wilson/Beckham): Elect the remaining candidates by acclimation for the at-large elections. Passed unanimously.

* EMS presentation: outsourced since 1978; since 1997, funds returned to the City.

* Randall Luce: Presentation on affordable senior housing at the Calgary Southern Baptist Church (near the 99-cent store and Tait/Drescher Streets.) Proposal includes 56 units and density bonuses. Housing will be a maximum of 2 stories and cost up to $800/month for a 1 bedroom.
* SDG&E landscaping at Gaines Street (JoAnn Carini): tree and flower improvements were made.
SDG&E substation, major improvements to start in May 2008.
* Levant between Linda Vista Road and Linda Vista Rec Center: proposal to convert to a one-way coming in from Linda Vista Rd.
Subcommittee reports: LMAD - no fee increase for third straight year.
